Microlighting

Jon and I in the Rans S6ES

Perhaps my greatest hobby is Microlighting. It’s like general aviation but smaller… on size and cost. But just as big on enjoyment.

To gain a license for Microlight’s aircraft only takes about half as long as a Group A license!

To gain a national Private Pilots License you need to:

-Fly with an instructor for a minimum of seven hours (but you must have achieved competence too)

Pass an Airlaw exam. You can also pass Human Performance & Limitations, Meterology and Navigation at this point if you would like to fly more than 2 miles from your instructor during the next stage.

Fly seven or more hours solo. This is the best part!

Fly two hours dual navigation training.

Fly two solo navigation flights where you land at a different place.

Fly 1 & ½ hours dual as a practice General Skills Test.

Fly 1 ½ hours with an examiner GST.

If you pass, that’s it!
